About 4pm, a garbage truck picking up yard waste on our block had a big problem. The truck blew an air hose, which locked up the brakes. Complete was called & their big wrecker got here at 4:45. They're still here' the driver is trying everything he can to get the brakes to release so he can tow it. Now, a pickup has arrived with a couple other people to help out.
I wonder what the bill on this will be. |

Shortly after I posted this, a city mechanic showed up to tell the wrecker driver what he needed to do to release the brakes. Since the garbage trucks have automatic transmissions, he also had to remove the drive shaft so the transmission wouldn't be harmed by towing. The city mechanic told me he was called at home to help the wrecker driver, so add his overtime to the towing charge. |
