Former Flint investigative reporter and anchor Jim Kiertzner sure looks good when he is uncovering the dirt in Detroit. Go to WXYZ Channel 7 and look at the video in the local news.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The feds are back inside Detroit's Coleman A. Young Municipal Center conducting another corruption investigation.

At 10:00 am Tuesday an FBI agent working with the Michigan Attorney General executed a search warrant in the Detroit office of the city's Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department which takes up most of the 4th floor.

A spokesman for the city says the department has 165 employees - half of whom work in the field as building and blight inspectors.

The search warrant was to obtain records, invoices, permits, reviews, inspections, approvals, denials and other computer records for these 8 Detroit properties:
•15744 Trinity
•16205 Mack Avenue
•1551 Winder
•12171 and 17161 Telegraph
•9210 Freeland
•6520 Mettetal
•6578 Montrose
•3012 25th

The search warrant was signed on June 19 by a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge. It has a 2011 Attorney General report number. Both indicate the investigation has been underway for some time.

One property owner tells 7 Action News that he talked with the FBI last winter, they came out and wired his business and recorded one official in the act of taking a bribe.

A city spokesman would not say if any employees have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. Officials did say that the city is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Flint once had complaints of bribery and favoritism in the inspection department. Does flint even have any building inspectors now?
