FLINT, MI -- A homeowner shot and killed a 17-year-old man who was allegedly breaking into his home, according to Flint police.

The homeowner was sleeping when he awoke Tuesday just after midnight to the sound of his home being broken into, police say.

The man fired his gun, striking one of the intruders inside the home on Bradley Avenue near Court Street.

The suspect was found dead about a block-and-a-half away in front of a party store.

Three other suspects were also arrested and lodged in the Flint City Lockup pending home invasion charges. The incident remains under investigation.

This is third recent incident involving a break-ins and gunfire.

Last week, two men were shot after they allegedly broke into a home on Freeman Avenue near Grand Traverse. One ended up in critical condition while a third was listed in good condition. The homeowner went to answer door and when he opened it one of the suspects fired shots into the home, the report said.

The homeowner, who was not injured in the incident, returned fire through the door, striking both the alleged intruders, according to police. The suspects were arrested in the driveway of the home. The homeowner and the suspects knew each other, police said.

On April 1, an 86-year-old man fired two shots at a suspect trying to break into his home in the 1900 block of Barks Street near Lapeer Road.

According to the report, the man heard a loud noise in the living room and saw a man in his 20s trying to break through a window on the north side of his home. The suspect fled the scene eastbound through the backyard after the shots were fired.

No one was injured in the incident.

Nothing wrong with shooting as long as the right folks (thugs) get shot.
